FPL Gameweek 5 Best Differentials by Position

Kieran Tierney (£4.9m, 1.6% owned) – FPL Gameweek 5 Best Differentials

Arsenal have been one of the main under performers so far this season. Mikel Arteta’s side have earned just three points taken from the opening four Gameweeks. They have scored just one goal scored and kept one clean sheet.

However, the upcoming fixtures could facilitate a change in fortunes. Out of the defensive options for Arsenal, Kieran Tierney has shown himself to be the most attacking option at just £4.9m.

With the signing of Takehiro Tomiyasu (£4.5m), the new right back is playing slightly more defensively. This allows Tierney to be bomb forward on the left wing.

The Scotsman has attempted 21 crosses and completed seven. This is more than any other Arsenal player has managed.

On top of that, Tierney has made 9 key passes which ranks first amongst Arsenal players. He has also registered five shots which is fourth amongst the Gunners.

On top of the clean sheet in Gameweek 4 and Tierney’s attacking threat, Arsenal have a good run of defensive fixtures.

The Hub Fixture Ticker ranks them as the second best run of games out of any defence over the next five matches.

These games include Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa at home with away matches against Burnley and Brighton.

This could allow Tierney to become a viable option by combining clean sheets with his goal and assist potential.

Abdoulaye Doucoure (£5.5m, 2.3% owned) – FPL Gameweek 5 Best Differentials

At the beginning of the season, Everton were one of the stand out teams in terms of the best run of fixtures to start the season.

This has been capitalised on as the Toffees sit joint third for goals scored with 10. That tally is just one behind Manchester City and Manchester United.

Despite this, no player has more than three goals. Instead, the goals have been shared with nine different players securing attacking returns so far this season.

A standout performer that has experienced a sharp increase in ownership is Demarai Gray (£5.7m). The former Leicester winger has been very clinical scoring with all three shots on target. His expected goals for the season totals 0.89.

Gameweek 4 showed what Doucoure can offer as a differential with some potentially sustainable attacking returns. Doucoure has returned three assists so far this season with two coming in a slightly more advanced role in Gameweek 4.

The Frenchman has recorded eight shots so far this season, the same as Gray. However, five of these have come inside the box compared to Gray’s four.

Furthermore. Doucoure has more assist potential with four key passes and one big chance created this campaign.

Over the next five Gameweeks, Everton have the second best fixtures from an attacking point of view using the Hub’s Fixture Ticker. This run includes away matches against Aston Villa and Manchester United.

Yet there are also more favorable home matches against West Ham, Watford and Norwich in Gameweek 6. These five teams that Everton face have managed just three clean sheets from the opening 20 possible matches.

This indicates there is a good chance Everton continue on their strong run of form in front of goal (whether Dominic Calvert Lewin (£8.2m) is back in contention or not).

Raul Jimenez (£7.4m, 2.7% owned) – FPL Gameweek 5 Best Differentials

Wolves currently are third for shots and shots inside the box. Bruno Lage’s side are also fifth for big chances so far this season.

However, Wolves currently sit as the biggest under-performers in front of goal this season. Their expected goals total of 7.2 compared to just two goals scored highlights their lack of cutting edge up front.

With this in mind, it is likely that the improved attacking form that Wolves showed in Gameweek 4 could continue with their upcoming run of fixtures.

Over the next five Gameweeks, Wolves have the fourth best run of fixtures. This is according to the Hub’s Fixture Ticker when the games are filtered by attack.

This run includes Brentford and Newcastle at home. Meanwhile, Wolves also face Southampton, Aston Villa and Leeds away from home.

These five teams have kept just four clean sheets from a possible 20 matches so far. Given the amount of chances these teams are conceding, Wolves have a great opportunity to improve their goalscoring record.

Out of the Wolves attackers, Jimenez has shown a consistent involvement despite not getting any attacking returns. The Mexican has taken 13 shots with 12 of these being inside the box. Unsurprisingly, this is more than any other Wolves player.

However, on top of this goal threat, Jimenez has also made 12 key passes, which is also the highest amongst the Wolves ranks.

This indicates that Jimenez has the ability to be involved in goals and assists. With the favourable run of fixtures, Jimenez to be a great differential for the suspended Michail Antonio (£7.9m) or the injured Calvert-Lewin.
