Fantasy Premier League made its return this weekend after the previous week&#8217;s fixtures were cancelled following the death of Queen Elizabeth II  &#8211; this is our FPL Gameweek 8 review.
Three fixtures were cancelled amid preparations for the Queen&#8217;s state funeral yesterday (Monday, September 19) &#8211; Manchester United v Leeds United, Chelsea v Liverpool and Brighton v Crystal Palace.
With the Premier League now pausing for the international break, we take a look back at Gameweek 8, from the top points scorers to a look at some <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/a-simple-guide-to-opta-stats-for-fpl">statistics</a>.
We also look at the top of the FPL leaderboard and how the Premier League stars themselves are doing as fantasy managers.

<h2>Who were the top points scorers in FPL Gameweek 8?</h2>

The winning combo in Gameweek 8 would have been:

<li>Rodrigo Bentancur (£5.4m) &#8211; 12 points</li>

Son topped the Hub&#8217;s predicted points charts for Gameweek 8, ahead of teammate Harry Kane (£11.4m).
But it was a roller coaster of emotions for FPL managers who backed him, with the South Korean benched for the game against Leicester.

Coming on as a 59th minute substitute for Richarlison (£8.5m), Son scored three goals, scooping maximum bonus.
Bentancur&#8217;s goal and assist in the 6-2 victory scored him more points than he had accumulated all season.
And Arsenal&#8217;s Saliba scored a headed goal and registered a clean sheet in the 3-0 away win against Brentford. His haul ensured he received all three bonus points.
FPL&#8217;s team of the gameweek scored a whopping 122 points and looked like this:

<h2>Stats Watch</h2>
Fulham&#8217;s Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.9m) is an increasingly popular pick, particularly for those who opted to <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/what-is-the-fantasy-premier-league-wildcard-and-when-to-use-it">Wildcard</a> in Gameweek 8.
The Serbian striker blanked this time around &#8211; but he had the joint-second number of shots in Gameweek 8, with four. He remains the league leader for total shots with 31, ahead of Erling Haaland (£12.0m) on 27.
Top of the shots in Gameweek 8 was James Maddison (£7.9m). His seven shots was comfortably the highest, with the three hit managed on target behind only Son Heung-min (£11.7m).

Maddison is in about 5.5% of teams and has an enticing fixture run, including Nottingham Forest at home and Bournemouth away, coming up.
Despite Leicester&#8217;s poor performances so far, Maddison remains a strong pick.
Meanwhile teammate Youri Tielemans (£6.3m) who scored a penalty while Jamie Vardy (£9.2m) was off the pitch, has been showing signs of creativity.
With four big chances created so far this season, the Belgian tops the charts among Leicester players in this regard and sits joint-third in the league behind Pascal Gross (£6.0m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£12.2m).

Elsewhere, Alexander Isak (£7.0m) has put in showed promising signs since joining Newcastle United.
He has scored two goals in three games with an expected goals (xG) of 2.5. That&#8217;s just a whisker shy of Haaland, who has significantly outperformed his xG of 2.53 by scoring five goals in that time.
In that short time, Isak ranks joint-second in the league for shots on target and has had the joint-most big chances (four).
He is owned by 8.1% of managers and is likely to be a major consideration for those who are wildcarding in the coming gameweeks.
<h2>Fergi&#8217;s Green Arrow podcast Gameweek 8 punt: The results</h2>
With the <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a> out of the way, now time for a little light-hearted content.
Viewers of the Hub&#8217;s <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mdxcg-z0nOE&amp;t=3556s">Green Arrow</a> podcast will know that each week this season, host <a href="https://twitter.com/FFH_Fergi">Fergi</a> is naming one low-owned player who he thinks will return in FPL.
If he&#8217;s wrong, he&#8217;ll be adding £10 to a pot to be donated to charity.
His picks so far have had a nasty habit of returning a gameweek or two too late.
Fergi picked Ollie Watkins (£7.2m) at around 2% ownership. He unfortunately blanked in Gameweek 8 against Southampton &#8211; so keep an eye on him after the international break!
<h2>Which Premier League player is the best at FPL?</h2>
The <a href="https://www.fplbot.app/virtual-leagues/pl">FPL Bot website</a> tracks a group of verified Premier League players&#8217; fantasy teams, with the likes of Patrick Bamford, Martin Odegaard and Maddison listed.
Adam Forshaw, of Leeds United, finished Gameweek 8 atop the leaderboard, some 29 points ahead of Shane Duffy of Fulham.
Forshaw opted to play his Free Hit chip in Gameweek 8, with six players out as a result of the fixture blanks.
His overall rank is 338k.

<h2>Who is winning FPL?</h2>
Kristian Finnland &#8211; from Norway &#8211; is top of the FPL rankings going into the international break.
Breaking into the top 10 in Gameweek 6, having finished in 11th at the close of Gameweek 5, Kristian scored 87 points in Gameweek 8.
He played his Wildcard in Gameweek 8, which contains no less than four premium attacking options.
Haaland, Kane, Son and De Bruyne all made the cut in the Norwegian&#8217;s team.
The glut of premiums came at a price, though, with Jack Colback (£4.3m), Japhet Tanganga (£3.9m) and Sam Greenwood (£4.3m) likely to prove unreliable sources of minutes.
But there is room for Manchester United fan Kristian to upgrade slightly, with £0.5m in the bank.
Kristian has also played his triple captain, which while early doors did secure him a 51 point haul in Gameweek 5, thanks to countryman Haaland&#8217;s hat-trick.
Meanwhile, the overall rank leader from Gameweeks 6 and 7 Mark McQuoid has dropped to 11th.

<h2>Hub set and forget teams: How they have performed</h2>
Before the start of FPL Gameweek 1, our Hub panel of editor Oli Poole, Will Thomas, Fergi, FPL Heisenberg (Wes) and Rich Clarke set up their set and forget teams for 2022/23.
These teams cannot be changed throughout the whole of the season &#8211; including captains.
