Who is the best FPL Gameweek 34 captain? Our resident FPL captaincy expert Chris Tan takes a close look at the fixtures, poll and stats breakdown before concluding on his best pick for the armband.
FPL Blank Gameweek 33 Recap
The Challengers – after Manchester United’s draw against Leeds there are only 15 points left to play for and they’re 10 points behind. The league is almost over now. Both Liverpool and West Ham’s top four hopes were dashed, as Chelsea look to cement their place.
The Premiums –Salah (£12.6m) proved his consistency, but it could have been so much more. Both Fernandes (£11.6m) and Vardy (£10.3m) came away with nothing and it’s another week where you would have been rewarded for backing the mid-priced players. We’ve seen it throughout the season with Gündogan (£5.8m), then Lingard (£6.6m). This week we had Wood (£6.3m) and Iheanacho (£6.2m). Should we be less reliant on our premiums for captaincy and start seriously considering the mid-priced on form players?
Who to target – they didn’t play this week, but the Southampton defence never fill me with confidence. Crystal Palace put up some fight against Leicester, but they’re in beach mode now.
How have we done to date?
Our first pick continues its steady run with just over a 10 point average from the last six weeks. The punt finally came in as well, but only provided an additional three points.
FPL Gameweek 34 Captain - The Fixtures
Gameweek 34 fixtures are primarily the reverse fixtures from Gameweek 19 (excluding the double Gameweek fixtures):
Boly (£5.4m) came away with 12 points from a goal, assist and max bonus despite conceding two goals. In form, Pereira (£5.5m) beat that with 15 though. Kane (£11.8m) picked up his customary goal with max bonus in the reverse fixture and forgotten man, Aubameyang (£11.3m) picked up a brace.

Who do my Twitter followers think is the best FPL Gameweek 34 captain?
Old Hunting Ground – do any of the likely lads have a good record vs their opposition?
- Son (£9.5m) was in tears after the cup final, but this should cheer him up. He’s never blanked against Sheffield United in the league and he scored in the last home game.
- Vardy (£10.3m) all his goals against Southampton have been scored away from home, including a hat trick last season during the infamous 0-9.
- Kane (£11.8m) has only scored against Sheffield United away from home, but I don’t think that will make a difference.
The records of the other candidate isn't worth discussing.
