With two FPL Double Gameweeks on the horizon and lots of wildcards active, the Watchlist now concentrates on the low-owned value players from teams that have the additional games and good fixtures for the remainder of the season to help boost us up the rankings.
One of the top pieces of FPL advice I follow is to always look ahead to a minimum of three weeks in advance when making transfers and try to focus on fixing the weakest link. This helps build and maintain a well-rounded team with good depth and good point-scoring potential all over the pitch rather than relying on just a few key players each week. In my opinion, far too much thinking is spent on who to captain each week, rather than how to maximise your budget across your squad, spending money in the right places, maintaining structural flexibility and ensuring a continual influx of points from across your team. Successful FPL managers have well-balanced teams with a focus on value all over the pitch; the boring moves are the winning moves and the difference between finishing in the top 200k and the top 20k.
The Watchlist is focussed on lesser obvious picks with potential good value that can keep our scores ticking along whether the big boys’ fire or not. They are not sexy nor exciting and I’m not saying to bring them in right away, but they are players that I feel can offer great value to a squad over the medium term and give those extra few points in the background that we all crave each week. Some of them will also be ideal bench players so that when needed will come in and hopefully bring some points with them.
Two double Gameweeks followed up with a home tie to Newcastle
Dunk – 4.4m – 3.1% owned
Big threat at set-pieces and good on BPS
Murray – 6.3m – 1.7% owned
Main striker, on penalties, should get at least three of the four games as they chase survival
Ryan – 4.4m – 4% owned
Great price for a double Gameweek keeper with great fixtures for clean sheets
Great fixtures for the remainder of the season including a double Gameweek
Redmond – 5.3m (Southampton) – 2.0% owned
Has improved massively recently and very attacking at a good price
Valery – 4.1m (Southampton) – 2.5% owned
Very cheap, attacking and seemingly nailed on at right back
Ward-Prowse – 5.1m (Southampton) – 3.4% owned
On set-pieces and in the form of his life, great price to boot
Gunn – 4.3m (Southampton) – 4.3% owned
Seems to have nailed his place between the sticks at a great price
Mixed fixtures but in form with a double Gameweek
Cathcart – 4.5m (Watford) – 2.0% owned
Very consistent, attacking from set pieces and a good price
Doucoure – 5.9m (Watford) – 1.6% owned
Seems to be playing more advanced recently and has scored a few goals from there
Deeney – 6.3m (Watford) – 5.1% owned
Cheating as over 5% owned but I think he’s a great option. On penalties, their talisman and in the form of his life
Fighting for their lives and a good double Gameweek
Camarasa – 4.5m (Cardiff) – 2.3% owned
On set pieces and penalties, a classy player and maybe the only one that could save Cardiff from the drop
A double Gameweek, good fixtures with four of the remaining six at home
Vertonghen – 5.9m (Tottenham) – 4% owned
Some attacking threat, nailed on and a good price for a potential flurry on clean sheets to finish the season
