<h3><strong>Have you ever wondered what the best method is for selecting a captain? </strong><strong>Is it an FPL prediction algorithm? Is it to look at anytime goal scoring odds? Is it to pick the top player in the polls? Or is it to listen to the wise words of FPL tipsters?</strong></h3>
<p>This series is all about putting these captaincy selection methods to the test.</p>
<h2 style="text-align: left;">How does it work?</h2>
<p>We&#8217;ll be taking the <strong>top three picks</strong> according to an FPL <strong>algorithm</strong>, <strong>bookies</strong> anytime goalscoring odds, the captaincy <strong>poll</strong> and those of a <strong>special guest</strong>.</p>
<p>Each pick will be weighted so that the top pick receives 100% of their points, 2nd 85% and 3rd 70%. Each prediction method will also have one bench pick in case any of their top three doesn&#8217;t start. A <strong>running tally</strong> will be kept to find out that all-important question &#8211; which one is the best?</p>
<h2>GW34 results</h2>
<p>I was on leave last week so didn&#8217;t get a chance to make a post for GW35. Looking back at GW34, there was a big shakeup in the standings with The Bookies leapfrogging from last to first place with Kane, Lukaku and Vardy. <span class="username u-dir" dir="ltr">The Tipsters fell back from 1st to 3rd as top pick Sanchez failed to fire. With just over three points separating all prediction methods going into the home stretch of the season, it couldn&#8217;t be much closer.</span></p>

<p>Having been top of the pile a few weeks ago, The Algorithm&#8217;s mathematical modelling has gone astray in recent weeks. But only three points adrift, I&#8217;d certainly not bet against its number crunching skills being top come end of the year.</p>

<p>I have decided to change the name from The Poll to The Community. A reflection of the combined wisdom that beholds the FPL masses. This time around, over 50% of <a href="https://twitter.com/FFootballHub">our twitter</a> followers are backing an off colour <strong>Kane</strong> to regain his shooting boots. <strong>Salah</strong> coming a close 2nd followed by City duo <strong>Sterling</strong> and <strong>Jesus</strong>.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">The Tipster</h3>
<p>The Tipster&#8217;s continue their rollercoaster ride as they slip down to third. Fortunately for them, they have an FPL high flier <a href="https://twitter.com/robwatsonlang">@robwatsonlang</a> up next. As well as being our resident <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/author/bebob/">FPL diary</a> writer, he&#8217;s sitting pretty inside the top 5k (not to mention top five overall in Sky fantasy football!).</p>
<p><strong>Who are your top three picks and why?</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>My first pick has to be Mo <strong>Salah</strong>. Fresh from picking up the PFA Player of The Year award and his fine showing in the Champions League on Tuesday, I think Mo will be after another big haul at the weekend as he continues to break records on route to picking up the Golden Boot.</li>
<li><strong>Kane</strong> isn’t in form and hasn’t looked at his best since returning from injury. However, Spurs have scored quite a few goals against Watford in recent times and perhaps this weekend is when he will make a welcome return to form.</li>
<li>Having been left out last week I am fairly confident <strong>Sane</strong> will start on Sunday. I feel Man City will put in another convincing performance and expect Sane to be involved in the goals.</li>

<p>Once again Kane and Salah dominate our prediction methods with Tipsters and the Algorithm favouring <strong>Salah</strong>, while current leaders The Bookies The Community and backing <strong>Kane</strong>. The big differential could well be third place picks with City players featuring strongly and <strong>Austin</strong> making his first appearance in the series for The Bookies. For my own captain, I&#8217;ll be keeping a close eye on leaked Liverpool lineups from <a href="https://twitter.com/AnfieldExpress">@AnfieldExpress</a>. If Salah is confirmed starting, his frightening form makes him a no-brainer for me.</p>
