<p>Premier League clubs have splashed the cash on a host of new signings in the January transfer window &#8211; but who should attract the most FPL transfers?</p>
<p>We take a look at the newest FPL stars and discuss whether they make our top-five FPL picks, are ones for the watchlist, ones to avoid or stars of the future.</p>
<p>The window is not yet closed, so we&#8217;ll update this article later this month as new players join the league.</p>

<h2>FPL transfers: Top-five FPL picks from the January transfer window so far</h2>
<p>Our top-five picks aren&#8217;t necessarily ones to transfer in straight away. Like any new signing, it is often wise to see how they adapt to the Premier League.</p>
<p>However, these are the picks we currently think are the most likely to grab FPL managers&#8217; attention in the second half of the season.</p>

<h3>1. Joao Felix (£7.5m) &#8211; FOR &#8211; Chelsea</h3>
<p>Sent off on his debut but the talented Portuguese is one of the top signings of the January transfer window so far and among the likeliest to become an FPL asset for the rest of the season.</p>

<h3>2. Cody Gakpo (£8.0m) &#8211; MID &#8211; Liverpool</h3>
<p>Gakpo has already slotted into the side at Anfield after a stellar World Cup in Qatar.  One of the first January transfers, we looked at his potential in the article below.</p>

<h3>3. Alex Moreno (£4.5m) &#8211; DEF &#8211; Aston Villa</h3>
<p>A lot depends on whether Unai Emery sees Moreno as his number-one left-back ahead of <strong>Lucas Digne (£4.6m) </strong>but if does, he could be one of the picks of the transfer window.</p>
<p>Moreno scored five and assisted four for Real Betis last season, adding three assists this campaign before joining Villa.</p>
<p>Digne is currently injured, which could give Moreno the chance to establish himself in the starting 11.</p>
<h3>4. Pablo Sarabia (£5.5m) &#8211; MID &#8211; Wolves</h3>
<p>The new Wolves winger links up with Julen Lopetegui from his Spanish under-19s days and &#8211; briefly &#8211; at Sevilla.</p>
<p>Sarabia scored 12 goals and assisted 13 in 30 games at Sevilla, arguably his standout season. Fifteen goals and six assists also came during a loan at Sporting Lisbon last season.</p>
<p>The Spaniard has impressed on the international stage, playing a starring role in Euro 2020 with two goals and two assists. He will hope to revive his career at Wolves after falling out of favour at Paris Saint-Germain.</p>
<h3>5. Benoit Badiashile (£5.0m) &#8211; DEF &#8211; Chelsea</h3>
<p>Badiashile has already made his debut at centre-back for the Blues &#8211; and if the 21-year-old can nail down a starting spot, he would be a cheap route into the Chelsea backline.</p>
<p>Chelsea have conceded the fourth-least number of goals in the league (21), although their xGC is higher at 27.6.</p>

<h2>FPL transfers: New FPL players to watch</h2>
<p>The best of the rest &#8211; potential stars to keep an eye out for:</p>
<h3>Mykhaylo Mudryk (£7.0m) &#8211; MID &#8211; Chelsea</h3>
<p>We <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/mykhaylo-mudryk-fpl-sky-dream-team-and-tff-prospects-as-a-chelsea-player">profile the Ukrainian in detail here</a> &#8211; if he can cement a regular place in the starting 11 at Stamford Bridge, Mudryk could be someone to consider at £7.0m.</p>

<h3>Arnaut Danjuma (TBC) &#8211; Tottenham Hotspur</h3>
<p>With a move to Everton reportedly all-but done and dusted, Spurs came calling for the former Bournemouth winger.</p>
<p>On loan for Villarreal, the Netherlands international has impressed since leaving the Cherries in 2021. He scored 10 and assisted three in La Liga last season, adding six goals and an assist in the Champions League.</p>
<p>Game time would perhaps have been more assured at Everton, with plenty of competition in the forward positions for Spurs, somewhat limiting his appeal at present.</p>
<h3>Victor Kristiansen (£4.5m) &#8211; DEF &#8211; Leicester</h3>
<p>Left-back Kristiansen, 20, left FC Copenhagen for the Foxes, having managed one goal and eight assists in 73 senior appearances in Denmark.</p>
<p>He comes <a href="https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/victor-kristiansen-transfer-leicester-city-7993373">highly rated</a> by the Danish contingent and is likely to provide cover for the injured <strong>James Justin (£4.2m)</strong>.</p>
<h3>Noni Madueke (£5.5m ) &#8211; MID &#8211; Chelsea</h3>
<p>Madueke, 20, had four years in the youth ranks at Spurs before moving to PSV in 2018.</p>
<p>Capped four times for England Under-21s, the right-sided winger scored 12 goals in 62 games for the Dutch outfit.</p>
<p>Madueke <a href="https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/maduekes-delight-at-becoming-a-blue">outlined his footballing identity</a> upon joining his new club:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;As a player, I like to get on the ball and be exciting. I look to take players on, beat players when dribbling, be creative and score goals for the team.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<h3><strong>Georginio Rutter (£5.5m) &#8211; FOR &#8211; Leeds</strong></h3>
<p>The French forward has been described by Leeds manager Jesse Marsch as a player for the long-term &#8211; but he has been praised for his tactical knowledge and technical ability and could be set for a place in the matchday squad against Brentford.</p>
<p>Rutter, who can play as a striker, wide player or second striker, scored 12 goals in 57 games for German side Hoffenheim.</p>
<p>The 20-year-old has competition from the likes of 10 goal <strong>Rodrigo (£6.4m)</strong>, while <strong>Patrick Bamford (£7.2m) </strong>has made his return from injury. With fellow foreward <strong>Wilfried Gnonto (£5.0m) </strong>also in form, there are better Leeds options than Rutter at present.</p>
<h3>Kevin Schade (£5.0m) &#8211; MID &#8211; Brentford</h3>
<p>The 6ft, 1ins German, 21, recorded the <a href="https://www.brentfordfc.com/en/news/article/get-to-know-brentford-new-signing-kevin-schade">second-fastest sprint speed in the Bundesliga last season</a> &#8211; but should FPL managers be as quick to back him?</p>
<p>Brentford manager Thomas Frank described Schade as a &#8216;typical&#8217; Bees signing, capable of playing across their front three.</p>
<p>Joining on loan from Freiburg, where he scored five in 29 games, Schade made his debut off the bench against Bournemouth in Gameweek 20 and also had minutes in the FA Cup.</p>
<p>It could be a challenge initially for Schade to claim a regular starting spot &#8211; but a change in the availability of <strong>Ivan Toney (£7.5m) </strong>could significantly strengthen the case for investment in the budget FPL midfielder.</p>
<h3>Wout Weghorst (£6.0m) &#8211; FOR &#8211; Manchester United</h3>
<p>Weghorst made his first start for Manchester United against Crystal Palace in Gameweek 20.</p>
<p>Regular appearances for one of the league&#8217;s best sides would, at his price, make him an enticing prospect &#8211; but FPL managers will likely want to see evidence of his goal threat before picking him.</p>

<h3>Mislav Orsic (£5.5m) &#8211; MID &#8211; Southampton</h3>
<p>The Croatian earned a Premier League move on the back of scoring 57 goals in 132 appearances for Dinamo Zagreb.</p>
<p>Orsic also has two international goals in 27 games, including a fantastic strike against Morocco at the World Cup in Qatar.</p>
<p>Primarily a winger or attacking midfielder, Southampton will need their new man to contribute plenty on the pitch as they fight relegation.</p>
<p>Saints are fifth-bottom for goals scored in the league, so it&#8217;s worth waiting to see if things improve after their January signings.</p>
<p>Consider stretching a little further to the newly attacking <strong>James Ward-Prowse (£6.2m) </strong>if your heart is set on a Southampton midfielder.</p>
<h3>Carlos Alcaraz (£5.0m) &#8211; MID &#8211; Southampton</h3>
<p>Not to be confused with the grand-slam winning tennis player, Alcaraz hails from Argentina.</p>
<p>Southampton&#8217;s <a href="https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2023-01-11/in-profile-carlos-alcaraz-southampton-football-club-2023">profile of the midfielder</a>, 20, describes him as an &#8216;energetic, box-to-box midfielder, with a turn of pace and a willingness to drive forward with the ball&#8217; and a &#8216;natural eye for goal&#8217;.</p>
<p>He scored 12 goals and assisted six in his 83 appearances for Racing Club &#8211; but for now he&#8217;s one to watch as he adapts to life in the Premier League.</p>
<h3>Dango Ouattara (£5.0m) &#8211; MID &#8211; Bournemouth</h3>
<p>The £20m winger had six goals in 18 League 1 games for French club Lorient prior to signing for the Cherries.</p>
<p>Bournemouth sit bottom of the league for xG, so extra offensive options will be welcomed by manager Gary O&#8217;Neil.</p>
<p>And he&#8217;s off to a good start, with an assist against Nottingham Forest on his debut.</p>
<h3>Matheus Cunha (£5.5m) &#8211; FOR &#8211; Wolves</h3>
<p>Signed from Atletico Madrid, Cunha already has two games under his belt in the league, playing 24 and 63 minutes in Gameweek 19 and 20 respectively.</p>
<p>He scored seven in 54 in Spain and time will tell whether he can up his output should he get regular minutes in the Premier League.</p>
<h3>Gustavo Scarpa (£5.0m) &#8211; MID &#8211; Nottingham Forest</h3>
<p>Already up and running in terms of appearances for his new club, we looked at the <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/gustavo-scarpa-fpl-sky-dream-team-and-tff-prospects">prospects of Scarpa</a> earlier this month.</p>

<h2>FPL transfers: Unlikely FPL assets</h2>
<h3>Max Wober (£4.5m) &#8211; DEF &#8211; Leeds</h3>
<p>Versatility gives Wober plenty of routes to a place in the starting 11 of Jesse Marsch&#8217;s side &#8211; but Wober is listed as a defender in FPL.</p>
<p>The case for investing in the Leeds backline is not currently strong. The Yorkshire club are second-worst for expected goals conceded (xGC).</p>
<p>They have kept just three clean sheets, something Wober may help address. But his attacking record of two goals and three assists for club and country over 45 games doesn&#8217;t shout &#8216;must-buy&#8217; for now.</p>
<h3>Mario Lemina (£4.5m) &#8211; MID &#8211; Wolves</h3>
<p>The defensively minded central midfielder has joined Wolves from OGC Nice, returning to the Premier League after spells with Southampton and Fulham.</p>
<p>He scored three and assisted three in 82 games for those two sides and is unlikely to be an FPL asset.</p>
<h3>Danilo (£4.5m) &#8211; MID &#8211; Nottingham Forest</h3>
<p>The midfielder will link up with former Palmeiras teammate <strong><a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/gustavo-scarpa-fpl-sky-dream-team-and-tff-prospects">Scarpa</a> </strong>at the City Ground.</p>
<p>While the transfer is likely to be a good one for Forest, Danilo plays a deeper role than his fellow Brazilian and won&#8217;t offer the forward threat of another South American &#8211; <strong>Andreas Pereira (£4.6m) </strong>of Fulham &#8211; at a similar price.</p>
<h3>Jack Butland (£4.4m) &#8211; GK &#8211; Manchester United</h3>
<p>A backup goalkeeper for United, at a price unlikely to attract many FPL buyers unless <strong>David de Gea (£4.9m) </strong>is ruled out with a long-term injury.</p>
<h2>FPL transfers: Future prospects</h2>
<p>Chelsea signed midfielder <strong>Andrey Santos (£4.5m) </strong>and forward <strong>David Datro Fofana (£5.0m) </strong>in the January transfer window.</p>
<p>Fofana made his debut off the bench in the FA Cup against Manchester City. It is however unclear whether either him or 18-year-old Santos will stay at the club, with potential loans on the cards.</p>
<p>Regardless, Santos is currently on international duty for Brazil in the South American Under-20 championship.</p>
<p>Aston Villa target <strong>Jhon Duran </strong>was set to play in the same competition but has instead <a href="https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfer-ings-duran-26023585">travelled to England</a> to complete his move to the Villans.</p>
<p>The South American newcomers also include Brighton midfielder <strong>Facundo Buonanotte </strong>and West Ham defender <strong>Luizao</strong>, who has been added to the club&#8217;s development squad.</p>
<p>Buonanotte was reportedly coveted by the likes of Juventus before the Seagulls secured his signature. He is a <a href="https://www.brightonandhovealbion.com/news/3010870/facundo-buonanotte-completes-albion-transfer">&#8216;ball-playing attacking midfielder</a> who likes to break into the box and score goals&#8217;.</p>
<p>Keep an eye on whether he can force his way into Roberto De Zerbi&#8217;s first-team plans.</p>
