<p class="x_MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">Pep Guardiola <a href="https://twitter.com/ColmVHayes/status/1352611446392320007?s=20">revealed</a> on Friday that</span><strong><span lang="EN-US"> Kevin De Bruyne</span></strong><span lang="EN-US"> <strong>(£11.9m)</strong> is set for at least a month on the sidelines.</span></p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;Kevin, like the doctor said today after reviewing the scan, will be four to six weeks out. It <span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">is a big blow. </span></p>
<p><span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">&#8220;But we have to move forward. I am not saying that nobody doesn’t know about how important he is. Unfortunately for him and for us,</span> he will be out for an important part of the season and we have to find a solution because everyone is struggling in this situation and we have to adapt.&#8221; &#8211; Guardiola</p></blockquote>
<p>The Citizens play West Brom (a), Sheffield United (H), Burnley (a) and Liverpool (a) in a condensed set of games between Gameweek 20 and 23; all of which KDB will be absent for.</p>
<p>In the embargoed section of his pre-FA Cup press conference, Guardiola added on the Belgian:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;You have to know that I am going to miss Kevin a lot. He is almost irreplaceable for the quality he has. He was nominated the best player in Premier League last season. We know how good he is. At the same time, we have to find replacements while he is out. You cannot win titles without the respect the players have for each other. Quality wins games but titles are won because the captains build something for the team and everyone accepts.</p>
<p>&#8220;We are going to miss him like Sergio [Aguero], who has been missing for almost one year, one of the best strikers in the history of the Premier League. We have to move forward. We went to Stamford Bridge and won with 14 players. The players were together and moved forward. As the manager and backroom staff we have to find solutions. The player who plays in his [De Bruyne&#8217;s] position has to use their skills. This is the only thing we can do.&#8221;</p></blockquote>

<p><strong>Jamie Vardy (£10.1m)</strong> is also set for a spell on the sidelines, though Brendan Rodgers was a little less clear on a timescale than Guardiola. The Foxes chief reported:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;Jamie Vardy will be out for a few weeks. We’ve been managing him over this last number of months and he’s been absolutely fantastic. We have a window now that allows him to have a minor operation on his hernia and then he’ll be back within a few weeks. He’ll be out for that period.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s one that doesn’t keep him out for too long but it’s just a repair in and round that hernia area. It’s one we feel he can’t really put it off much longer. We were hoping to do it a few weeks back but this is window where we can get it done. That&#8217;ll leave him with a good part of the season where he can be really influential for us.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Speaking in the embargoed window of his presser, Rodgers revealed that Leicester are not planning to buy a striker in January despite Vardy&#8217;s absence. The Northern Irishman went on to state that two weeks could see the Leicester forward back in action.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;There’s not going to be one [a forward] available for us that will improve what we have. That’s the reality of it. We’ll press on with what we’ve got and Jamie will be back in very soon.</p>
<p>&#8220;It’ll just depend on the recovery, he could be a week. It’s not a major operation, it’s a minor one. It’ll just depend on the recovery process. It could be earlier than two weeks but on a rough guess, that’s what it will be.</p>
<p>&#8220;We were looking at doing it in the last international break but that plan had to change at the last minute. It’s one where he’s been in pain while he’s been training, so we’ve had to deload his training and get him ready for the games. But this was the point where we felt we had to get it done so we can benefit for the rest of the season. We agreed this was the time and we have to carry on without him.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
