Aston Villa Predicted lineup - FPL Gameweek 8

Press Conference

Bailey blow for Villa: "Unfortunately, Leon hasn't ticked all the boxes for the medical department; we are hopeful that he will be back in training after the Wolves game," Dean Smith revealed. Regarding those players away on international duty, the Villa boss is confident that they can be involved. "I expect all of them to be back. Emi Martinez played last night for Argentina, Douglas Luiz got the last 20 minutes for Brazil, but they'll be in the squad. We've also had players playing for Scotland, England, Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe – so we've had players all over the world. We'll assess whether they're ready to play or not." Keinan Davis and Morgan Sanson are back in training, but Saturday is likely to come too soon while Bertrand Traore is being assessed for a thigh injury. Carney Chukwuemeka missed out during the break and faces a late test.

Pending Evaluation

  • Morgan Sanson (hamstring) - The Frenchman has returned to training, but Saturday may come too soon.
  • Emiliano Martinez (late return) - Played for Argentina on Thursday night (Friday morning GMT), but he will be included in the squad.
  • Douglas Luiz (late return) - Played for Brazil on Thursday night (Friday morning GMT), but Dean Smith confirms he will be in the squad.
  • Bertrand Traore (thigh) - Faces a late fitness test.

Ruled Out

  • Trezeguet (knee) - Suffered an ACL rupture against Liverpool in 2020/21 and may not play again this year.
  • Keinan Davis (knee) - Re-joined the group on the training pitches. Building fitness.
  • Leon Bailey (thigh) - Resumed light training during the international break. Targeting a comeback in GW9.

Kristoffer Ajer and Vitaly Janelt "should be fine" after recovering from hamstring and thigh injuries. Thomas Frank is expecting both players to be ready for the visit of Chelsea on Saturday. Those players involved with their respective national teams have returned unscathed.

  • Vitaly Janelt (thigh) - The Bees should be close to full strength, including a return for the 23-year-old.

  • Mads Sorensen (knee) - Medial ligament damage and flagged as a longer-term injury by Thomas Frank.

Brighton and Hove Albion Predicted lineup - FPL Gameweek 8

Press Conference

Danny Welbeck goes under the knife. "Obviously, it's devastating for him and for us," said Graham Potter. "But he has had surgery, all is well, and he will be back stronger than ever. It is just going to take a bit of time." Steven Alzate is also set for an extended spell out, as he too needs an operation. "Everyone has come back OK [from the internationals]. We've had time to recover, and we're excited for the game. Bring it on!" The Seagulls will be boosted by the return of Yves Bissouma (knee), Adam Webster (hamstring) and Enock Mwepu (groin) while the Brighton boss urges caution over Traiq Lamptey: "He's been training really well; he's chomping to get back on the pitch and play. It's just about finding the right moment. We need to be careful, but he's been training and is ready to help us."

Pending Evaluation

  • Yves Bissouma (knee) - Back in full training and pushing for a return.
  • Enock Mwepu (groin) - Working with the group again and should make the matchday squad.
  • Adam Webster (hamstring) - Confirmation from Graham Potter that the defender is available for selection.

Ruled Out

  • Steven Alzate (ankle) - Set for a lengthy spell out. Needs surgery.
  • Danny Welbeck (hamstring) - Had surgery in early October, which means a return this year is improbable.

Burnley Predicted lineup - FPL Gameweek 8

Press Conference

Matej Vydra has returned from international duty with a bit of a knock. "He is probably touch and go," said Sean Dyche. Maxwel Cornet has come through OK, and the Ivorian is involved in full training. "We knew quite quickly that it wasn't as bad as feared; he has been away on international duty and come back fine." Ben Mee is isolating after testing positive for COVID-19, and the Clarets centre-back must follow government protocol. Charlie Taylor is rated as 50/50 after picking up a couple of knocks. "We will decide tomorrow; he is quite confident with it." Meanwhile, Connor Roberts had no reaction following his return for Wales. "I felt it was a bit premature to start him in the game," said Dyche. "But he came through no problem. He still needs more [minutes] in my view, but we will try and get him involved." Johann Berg Gudmundsson has settled down after missing out for Iceland with an unspecified injury.

Pending Evaluation

  • Maxwel Cornet (hamstring) - Joined the national team but failed to play any minutes during the break. Trained fully on Thursday.
  • Johann Berg Gudmundsson (unspecified) - Burnley confirmed the winger would not be joining the national team due to injury. Working with the group.
  • Matej Vydra (knock) - Forced off for the Czech Republic on Monday. Rated as 50/50.
  • Charlie Taylor (knock) - The full-back is confident of a return, but Sean Dyche will not take any risks.

Ruled Out

  • Dale Stephens (ankle) - The furthest away of those players currently sidelined.
  • Ben Mee (COVID-19) - Recovered from an ankle sprain but tested positive. Mild symptoms, but must adhere to government protocol.

Chelsea Predicted lineup - FPL Gameweek 8

Press Conference

Antonio Rudiger has been ruled out while the game comes too soon for Christian Pulisic. After missing sessions with a headache, Hakim Ziyech is a doubt, and Thiago Silva will not feature due to his late return. "He will be back [Saturday] afternoon, hopefully, safe from this match in Brazil. We had our talk and tactical training; he missed all that. He played 90 minutes and had 12 hours of travelling, so that gives you the answer." Romelu Lukaku is fine, and he will be involved. N'Kolo Kante and Reece James come into contention after COVID and injury.

Pending Evaluation

  • N'Golo Kante (COVID-19) - Back in full training and in contention for Saturday.
  • Reece James (ankle) - Pictured working with the group this week. Good chance of a return.
  • Romelu Lukaku (muscle fatigue) - Released from the Belgium squad. No injury - the player is being managed due to his heavy involvement since arriving at Chelsea.
  • Hakim Ziyech (headache) - Missed the last few training sessions. Late decision. Major doubt.

Ruled Out

  • Christian Pulisic (ankle) - Omitted from the US National Team for the recent internationals. Closing in on a return.
  • Thiago Silva (late return) - Expected to feature for Brazil on Friday, giving the player less than 36 hours to recover and travel. Tuchel confirms his absence.
  • Antonio Rudiger (back) - Missed Germany's win in North Macedonia but described as a precautionary measure by Hansi Flick. Ruled out of this one, though.

He is doing well, and we just have to evaluate how he is feeling week after week." The Palace players returned from the internationals with no issues.

Leeds United Predicted lineup - FPL Gameweek 8

Press Conference

It was hoped that Patrick Bamford would return on Saturday, but Marcelo Bielsa appeared to pour cold water on that suggestion during his press conference. "[His] recovery is subject to the evolution of the injury." Before the break, Bamford was confident of a comeback: "I imagine in the next ten days, I'll be ready to run on it. So I guess when I can start running and change direction normally, I'll be back in with the team probably in a week." Kalvin Phillips is in contention. "We will decide between today, tomorrow and Saturday," and Raphinha may yet play some part despite his involvement for Brazil during the early hours of Friday morning. "There's no doubt it's a short turnaround. The options he has to participate on Saturday depends on whether he plays tonight, how many minutes, how he finishes the game and how efficient the rest he can have in the next 36 hours." Robin Koch remains sidelined and will travel to the United States for a "simple procedure" on his pubis. Luke Ayling is at the halfway stage of his recovery. "Adam Forshaw is available again and Summerville also."

Pending Evaluation

  • Raphinha (late return) - Scored twice and played 71-minutes for Brazil before being replaced during the early hours of Friday morning.
  • Kalvin Phillips (calf) - Missed the recent England internationals after suffering a strain in GW7. Late decision.
  • Adam Forshaw (hamstring) - Recovered quicker than initially thought. Could make the squad.

Ruled Out

  • Robin Koch (groin) - Marcelo Bielsa cannot put a timeframe on the defenders' return.
  • Luke Ayling (knee) - He is around halfway through his recovery, suggesting a return after the next international break.
  • Patrick Bamford (ankle) - The player was confident of returning to full training, but Bielsa effectively quashed those hopes on Thursday.

Leicester City Predicted lineup - FPL Gameweek 8

Press Conference

Jonny Evans could return on Saturday. "We've had a plan for him this week, which meant he wasn't able to go away internationally. All being well if there are no ill effects, he will be available. Jannik Vestergaard has picked up a knock, so we'll assess that. We're looking forward to this next block of games." James Justin is working hard, and it won't be too long before the defender is back in the mix. "We can see him joining the group around the next international break. He'll be a huge plus for us." Wesley Fofana is ahead of schedule. "Hopefully, not long after the Christmas period, he could be back, which would be great news for us."

Pending Evaluation

  • Jonny Evans (foot) - Barring a reaction, the centre-back will be involved.
  • Jannik Vestergaard (knock) - Facing a late fitness test.

Ruled Out

  • James Justin (ACL) - Brendan Rodgers believes the defender should be ready by the next international break.
  • Wesley Fofana (lower leg) - Fractured fibula and dislocated ankle. The defender will not play again until early 2022.
  • Wilfried Ndidi (hamstring) - Withdrawn from the Nigeria squad after aggravating the problem against Burnley. Early November.
