Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 36 Preview
A five day gameweek to navigate, as we edge ever closer to the conclusion of the season. Whilst Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Crystal Palace aren’t in action this weekend, they do play midweek. The aforementioned teams first face off in the FA Cup, and the outcomes of those games are of interest for the remaining weeks, as are the European second legs this midweek.
Wins for West Ham and Leicester may switch their full focus from Premier League to trying to win the Europa League and UEFA Conference League respectively. The aforementioned fixtures in the FA Cup will also cause blanks on the 14th May for the final. So after this week, we should pretty much get an idea of the exact fixtures for the remainder of the season.
Two games still need to be confirmed: Manchester United v Chelsea and Wolves v Manchester City. So whilst we know who has how many games to play, it’s the opportunity to jump on some 3-1’s etc that is even more beneficial once they get slotted in. Once again, FFStuff is vital to spot those nice runs of fixtures. You need to put the time in, and spot what you can and can’t do fixture wise.
Saturday
Saturday seems an easy one for me for captaincy; again Spurs are the obvious choice, in a great run of form as they chase a top four finish. Conte’s side face Brighton at home, and having scored 12 goals in their last three games, many will have Kane or Son as captain. Despite Son’s hat trick last week, he’s still only in 40.8% of the top 1000 teams. With 52 points in his last three games from six goals, two man of the match awards and one assist, the South Korean has been in blistering form for owners. I’m still annoyed I went a week late on him, and missed out his 17 points v West Ham. But I am thankful that I did the move after considering abandoning the idea.
Harry Kane has been a bit of a support act to Son of late, but he still has 47 points in his last four games, and despite only one goal he has racked up six assists and two man of the match awards. He is currently the most owned player in the top 1000, with 92% ownership. Kulusevski at 28% owned with three goals and six assists is also worthy of a mention. The Swedish international has been in great form since joining Spurs in January.
Sunday
Sunday sees two games, both at the same time, so lineups won’t be an issue. Will Jarrod Bowen feature? I’m guessing he’ll start, but keep an eye on Thursday's Europa League game. The same applies to James Maddison and other Leicester assets. It appeared to me that Leicester rested a few players last weekend, but again the second leg result could influence the line up this Sunday. Both Bowen and Maddison especially saw their ownership increase, to 20% and 40% respectively - Maddison went up from 5%.
