Sky Sports Fantasy Football tips from former champion Dan Cox. Each week he brings us his weekly digest, giving us the highs and lows of his season and everything else you need to have a successful fantasy campaign.
Well that’s the overhaul done with, all that time thinking about your team, trying to second guess future fixtures. Looking at those tricky single day captaincies and planning future moves; we’re into the final stretch of the season and it’s down to business.
I spent a lot of time on my team, just looking at the first two-three weeks. Once I had done this I checked out the ownership stats for the top 1000 on our site partner FFStuff and realised I had made a team using 11 of the 20 most selected players. There is no point in trying to be clever or go for differentials for me, again I am playing it boring by going for the most obvious picks. People may try and find a differential but I always find they rarely pay off.
Gameweek 24 starts with the Friday night fixture of Wolves v Leeds and hopefully you’ll have a Leeds asset in your team already. Considering how well they’ve done and their very reasonable pricing you’d be mad to not have at least one. Patrick Bamford, Stuart Dallas and Raphinha were all amongst the top 20 selected players so I suspect most people do have them covered.
There are four matches on Saturday with the pick being Liverpool vs Everton. Mohamed Salah scored last week in another defeat for the champions and I think he will be a very popular captain despite Liverpool’s poor form. Fulham vs Sheffield United will be a nothing game from a fantasy perspective as I can’t see anyone with a player from either side. Burnley face West Brom at Turf Moor and those that opted for Nick Pope will be hoping for another clean sheet; he could even be a great shout for captain. The other game of the day is the lunchtime kick off of Southampton vs Chelsea. Cesar Azpilicueta, Jorginho, James Ward-Prowse and Jannick Vestergaard were all in the top 20 most selected so again a few good shouts for a potential captain there.
