Sky Gameweek 25 Review
Gameweek 25 was a bit of a let down in all honesty. I had high hopes of a 200 point week with the six captaincy days but it was all a bit ‘meh’. Manchester City are starting to rotate more, as I think we all thought they would but maybe a bit sooner than anticipated. This is starting to make me think that we should abandon a few of them as they look to have the title already in the bag so surely the Champions League becomes the number one focus? If you're happy to hold onto players like Stones, Cancelo, Rodri, Gundogan and pick up the points when they do play that’s fine, but I’m always a bit disappointed to see say John Stones benched when you're hoping for a ten point performance, even more so now City have conceded in each of the last two. With Cancelo for example, four points from this Gameweek just doesn’t do it for me so Saturday was just ok in the end as Dias and Stones both scored to make up for the loss of a clean sheet.
Sunday wasn’t great either. Harry Kane grabbing just a solitary goal in a 4-0 win isn’t enough for me. Mohamed Salah yielded yet another blank and in his last 13 games he’s now only scored more than the two appearance points three times; that's really not good enough and Bruno Fernandes was anonymous against Chelsea.
Monday - Everton v Southampton. Largely disappointing again particularly for those of us that brought in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, all 6,000 of us. He failed to return any attacking points and those that opted to captain Jannick Vestergaard were frustrated too as he failed to hit passing bonus with just 42. For the third game in a row the Dane should have scored but his late chance was saved by Jordan Pickford.
Tuesday - Man City v Wolves. John Stones and Gundogan started on the bench and although Stones never made it on, Gundogan did at least get ten minutes and managed to grab an assist for Jesus’ 93rd minute goal. It was frustrating to see Wolves score with their only effort on target.
Wednesday was a really uneventful night. Bruno Fernandes would have been the most selected captain given his 99.4% ownership and he and Manchester United just weren’t at it. I fancied Aston Villa for a clean sheet and even a goal for Ollie Watkins for those that were trying something different but even they struggled against Sheffield United in a 1-0 defeat.
Thursday was the final nail in the coffin. Harry Kane could only manage tier one shot bonus, Calvert-Lewin didn’t do anything and the misfiring Mohamed Salah only managed 60 minutes before being taken off. What a terrible week!
Sky Gameweek 26 Preview
Gameweek 26 is just a four day fantasy week which after Gameweek 25’s six captaincy days should be a breeze. But Gameweek 26 is anything but easy; in fact it’s pretty awkward.
