Dan’s Transfer Targets
As we head into Gameweek 25, 2016/17 Sky Sports Fantasy Football Champion Dan Cox highlights five players for you to consider for your fantasy XI this week.
There is just two days of action to navigate through this week, but with the FA cup fourth round taking priority at the weekend the next set of fixtures are this Tuesday and Wednesday, so don’t get caught out. Liverpool after their early FA Cup exit don’t have the distraction of a cup run – so again Mohamed Salah is an essential pick but I also have a brand new signing in my sights.
Mohamed Salah 12.9m
Starting at Anfield and again Mohamed Salah (12.9m) is a must have in my opinion. Liverpool face a Leicester side that conceded four goals last weekend to Wolves. Salah scored his 50th premier league goal last weekend and I’d expect more goals from him this week. He scored twice in this fixture last season in a 2-1 win for Jurgen Klopp’s side. The Egyptian tops the Premier League goal scoring charts with 16 and is now in 55 per cent of all teams.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 12.5m
Not far behind Salah in the goal charts is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (12.5m) with 14 goals this season. The Gabon international is hot on the heels of the Liverpool hitman in the race for the golden boot.
In considerably less teams at just 17 per cent, which is surprising considering he’s only scored two goals less. Aubameyang has notched up 132 points so far, just 40 points behind Salah. It’s Neil Warnock’s Cardiff up next for Arsenal at the Emirates and he could add more goals to his tally.
Marcus Rashford (10.4m)
The United starlet has been in sensational form since the departure of Jose Mourinho. In his last four league games he’s scored four goals, assisted twice and taken home two MOTM awards. Racking up 45 points in the process.
He’s now on 106 points for the season and considering he’s only priced at 10.4m I think he could be a great pick for the second half of the season. There is the worry that Romelu Lukaku will see a bit of game time but in the form that Rashford is in he must be almost undroppable. With Burnley up next at Old Trafford I think Rashford will see his 10.1% ownership increase further.
Raheem Sterling (11.5m)
The Manchester City winger is always someone I look out for. With 144 points this season he’s the third highest scoring midfielder this season. Currently in 14.2% of teams he’s not massively owned, which is surprising considering he has scored 10 goals this season with nine assists and two MOTM for good measure also.
In the last four games he has returned three assists and a goal. It’s Newcastle away for Manchester City on Tuesday night and Pep’s side could inflict more misery on struggling Newcastle who are just two points clear of the relegation zone.
Gonzalo Higuain (11.9m)
Chelsea have been largely disappointing in the last month. Only scoring five goals in their last six Premier League games. But with the Argentinian joining on loan from AC Milan for the rest of the season, I’m hoping he can deliver some goals for Chelsea.
The 31 year old played under Maurizio Sarri at Napoli and during the 2015-16 scored 36 league goals, equalling a Serie A record. Higuain has only scored six league goals for Gennaro Gattuso’s side this season, but I think he could hit the ground running for Chelsea as they face Bournemouth away on Wednesday.
I also think Higuain’s signing could be beneficial to Eden Hazard. As he might now have a striker that can finish the chances he has created and I also think he’ll benefit from being able to be moved back from false nine to his preferred position of out wide.
