By Sky Sports Fantasy Football reigning champion Dan Cox,

As we enter the penultimate week of the season it’s time to assess what players will fire you over the finish line.

There are fixtures every night this week except for Monday, with many teams featuring twice. Navigating through these fixtures to ensure you have a captain each day is essential. And if you can select a player that plays twice with two favourable fixtures that would be ideal.

Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba (11.2m) is going to be essential this week in my opinion. Starting on Friday when Manchester United travel to the Amex to face Brighton. That is followed up on Thursday night when they face West Ham at the London Stadium. Both of United’s games this week are single-game days. So it is vitally important that you have a United player in your team and the midfield man is the clear favourite in my view. Especially given the injury that forced Romelu Lukaku off early in the second half against Arsenal, leaving doubts over his involvement in the season run in. Pogba has been in good form recently with 39 points in his last four games, including three goals and two MOTM awards.

Harry Kane

After looking at Saturday’s fixtures no one really stands out apart from Harry Kane. Like Paul Pogba he also plays twice this week. Spurs travel to rock bottom West Brom on Saturday and then they host Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle on Wednesday. After scoring against Watford on Monday,  Kane might have regained his scoring touch for Spurs remaining fixtures.

Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus

On Sunday Manchester City host Huddersfield in the first game of the day. That gives us the luxury of being able to see the team sheets and safely decide on a transfer or captain with the certainty that they will start. So with this in mind and providing he starts then I think the safest bet is Kevin De Bruyne. If you want to be slightly riskier then Gabriel Jesus is also a great option. Although in City’s recent form there’s a good case for anyone from their squad. Both Raheem Sterling and Fernandinho ended the West Ham game with double-figure points hauls.

Mike van der Hoorn

Tuesday night throws up a tricky decision to make as Swansea host Southampton at the Liberty Stadium. I can’t see too many fantasy points on offer. And I think the safest route would be through a defender or a goalkeeper. Mike van der Hoorn (5.4m) is a great option, priced very cheaply and an almost guaranteed starter. And in his last game against Chelsea, he even managed to rack up tier one passing bonus. Plus as he’s so cheap it will allow you extra budget to use elsewhere.

On Wednesday there are four ties to choose from, Chelsea – Huddersfield, Leicester – Arsenal, Spurs – Newcastle and Manchester City – Brighton. And again using players from the weekend you could choose the captaincy between Kevin De Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus or Harry Kane. A lot will depend on team news but I think I’m pretty set on having Harry Kane as my captain.

Then we round the Gameweek off on Thursday when David Moyes West Ham host Manchester United. And we find ourselves back with Paul Pogba and what should have been a high scoring week. The Frenchman could be on for a decent haul against the side with the worst defensive record in the Premier League.
