This week the set of matches scored 911 points. Following Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Fulham meant Liverpool scored the most points with 89 while Fulham is the lowest scorers with 22 points.

The top five sides took the majority of bonuses this week. Man City had a surprisingly large haul given they were playing in a derby. Arsenal had five passing tier 2 awards and are now showing signs of getting back to previous seasons’ performances.

The big shock of the week was Jorginho not receiving a passing bonus award for the first time this season (though only played 64 minutes).
Horizon scanning
One player I have had my eye on recently has been Brooks who players for Bournemouth and valued at £6.3m
In terms of points scored he doesn’t appear in the top 20 midfield points scorers, 16th for points per £m and 15th on points per game per £m.
Brooks has started 11 games scoring three goals with no assists. He has picked up one bonus awards (tier 1 tackling). Looking at his goal contribution more closely, he has 2.6 xG and 1.7 xA so is scoring is a touch below expectation.

I think one bonus award seems reasonable, though doesn’t look like a candidate to achieve many during the season.
Currently, Brooks is on 41 points (0.59 pts per £m per game), I think this is a reasonable reflection of his performance so far this season.
Bournemouth also have some hard fixtures coming up so home to Arsenal followed by away to Man City with away games to Man U and Spurs not too far away.
Brooks is often subbed and is by no means certain to keep his place in the team in the longer term. Though is a good prospect and is fairly cheap, his returns of 0.59 pts/g/£m is on the low side. He can only be viewed as a gamble with the upside of freeing up cash.
My plan was to bring in Brooks for Seri assuming he starts against Arsenal on the Sunday after the International Break. Considering the above, this will no longer be the case and I’ll need to formulate another plan.
My team
Hearing Maddison was going to miss the game on Saturday wasn’t the best news. Under normal circumstances, I would have made no transfer and hoped he recovered and returned after the International Break. However, I had been looking for an opportunity to buy Hojbjerg. This also meant freeing up some cash and being able to replace Ryan in goal with Alison. I can always bring Maddison back in the future once I sure he is back in form.
I had the armband on Pereira until around 10 minutes before kick-off and then switch to Ryan. This was partly because Perreira had missed a couple of games, think he is also now playing as a defender (so estimated points may be over-estimated). This cost me six points, but still pleased with his clean sheet.
My defense held strong this week with Alison having a CS for 9points on his debut, my two Chelsea defenders had CS and tier 2 passing bonus and Laporte got 5 points thanks to his consistent passing bonus. The rest of my points were mainly from Salah as a standard captain (18 points) and Aguero (7 points). So with using two transfers, I scored 73 points and moved up 160 places to 368th.
At the 12 week point my trajectory after adjusting for transfers is:

I’m falling of the pace slightly and around 70 points off achieving a target of 0.65 pts/£m.
I’m fairly content with my team but will use the International Break to plan my next set of transfers. I’ll be looking at options to bring Kane in for match 15 when they are home to Southampton and their fixtures become kinder.
