Dan’s Sky Sports Fantasy Football Transfer Targets
As we head into Gameweek 39, Former Sky Sports Fantasy Football Champion Dan Cox highlights five players for you to consider for your fantasy XI this week.
It’s the penultimate week of the season and there are still mini leagues and leaderboard placings to fight for. I myself am fighting to try and secure a third consecutive top 100 finish (currently 153rd)
By having the best captain you can each game day – you might just manage to get across the finish line. So let’s look at the weekend’s fixtures as this Gameweek is spread across four days.
The action kicks off on Friday night with Everton facing Burnley at Goodison Park – live on Sky Sports. Marco Silva’s side have been in fine form winning four out of their last six. And Gylfi Sigurdsson, in particular, has been instrumental in those wins. Racking up 55 points in eight games from four goals, two assists and two MOTM.
That takes the Icelandic international to 183 points for the season and many may be surprised to see that he is now the fifth highest point scoring midfielder.
In only 8.4 per cent of teams and priced at just 9.1m – Sigurdsson could be a welcome addition for the final two games of the season.
Onto Saturday and a few players could deliver the points. In the lunchtime kick-off on Sky Sports, Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs’ side travel to the Vitality Stadium to face Bournemouth. Who despite a 5-0 win a few weeks ago – haven’t been in great form only winning twice in their last 12 games.
With this in mind, I think Heung-min Son ( 10.6m ) is a good option. I’m expecting the Korean to start on Saturday having been suspended for the Champions League in midweek. You do however have the added bonus of being able to see the team sheet before confirming a transfer or captaincy. So you can check to see if Son is starting first. But just be mindful that Spurs will have one eye on Wednesday’s trip to Amsterdam for their Champions League Semi-Final second leg against Ajax.
Spurs haven’t been in the best form of late, and the same can be said of Son. But while others may be shipping him out I’m backing him to score and punish sellers.
With just two goals in his last 10 Premier League games, and none in the last four I can see why people have lost patience and Son has been one of the most transferred out players in recent weeks.
But Son still has 164 points for the season from 12 goals and eight assists and I think he’ll add to that in the last two games of the season against Bournemouth and Everton.
Also on Saturday, the ever impressive Wolves host a much improved Fulham at Molineux. Fulham have now won their last three games in a row, after a nine-game consecutive losing streak.
But I still think Wolves will have too much for the Cottagers’ and that Raul Jimenez (7.9m) will add more goals – and all important Fantasy points to his tally.
Jimenez really has been a great value for money pick this season. Especially when you consider he has only 23 points less than Sergio Aguero and is almost 5m cheaper. The Mexican has had a great debut season with 13 goals, 10 assists and 187 points. I’m pretty certain we are looking at a considerable rise in price ahead of next season for the Wolves striker.
The Premier League is coming to its conclusion in the most enthralling title run in many years. And two former Liverpool managers could have a big say in where this season’s title is headed.
Saturday’s action draws to a close with the 7.45pm kick-off live on Sky Sports. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side travel to St James Park to face Newcastle and a former Anfield boss in Rafa Benitez.
Liverpool will be hoping that Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will again fire the goals to keep their title bid on track. We have been really spoilt for choice with Liverpool options this season.
Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Trent Alexander-Arnold scored 20, 17, 14 and 12 points respectively against Huddersfield last Friday. Showing that anyone – in any position is a great pick for Liverpool.
I personally will be sticking with Salah ( 12.9m ) and hoping the Egyptian can fire in more goals and also take home the MOTM.
Salah has been on a great run of late after a bit of barren spell. The Liverpool man now has 44 points from his last four games with four goals, two assists and one MOTM award.
That now takes him to 246 points for the season – from 21 goals and 11 assists and he’s still the highest owned player in the game at 51.3 per cent.
Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero
The action concludes with Manchester City against Leicester on Monday Night Football – live on Sky Sports. Liverpool will be hoping that another former manager in Brendan Rodgers can do them a favour and take some points off Pep Guardiola’s side to derail their title bid.
But I think that Raheem Sterling (11.5m) and Sergio Aguero (12.8m) will again be amongst the goals and earn Pep’s side another three points.
Between the pair, they have been directly involved in 57 Premier League goals. Aguero with 30, Sterling with 17 and the Argentinian has eight assists compared to Raheem’s 12.
Both are on similar points – Sterling with 227 and Aguero with 210. So why choose between the pair when you can have both?
