This was the second highest points scoring week of the season with 996. Chelsea for the second week running pick-up the most points, being the only team to break the hundred barrier with 106. WBA had the lowest score following their hammering from Chelsea with 12 points, and so sacked their manager.
Man of the match
The table below are the Sky man of the matches:
This is the first time that no defenders or goalkeepers have picked-up a MotM award. Salah put in another impressive performance so collecting his 4th award of the season to move joint top with Kane and de Bruyne.
The distribution of bonuses by team this week is:
Three of the top 6 scored quite poorly this week. Arsenal v Spurs being a big match may account for these two teams, but Liverpool’s seemingly comfortable win over Southampton only produced 3 bonus awards while Southampton had a healthy 6.
A rare tackling bonus was achieved by Man City, so expect Pep will be having a word in Delph’s ear about this not being required.
The season awards are as follows:
Man City continue their impressive fantasy football awards to match their real life performances and are clear leaders in the table. Liverpool are ranked clear second though this is not matched by their real-life points total.
Defenders under-performed their usual bonus awards this week, while both midfielders and strikers post above average returns.
Bonus by player
The table of top players by different points and awards is:
O, Niasse pops up on my striker chart so will look at a bit more closely
This player was out of favour at Everton at the beginning of the season, and only just now seems to be in the starting 11. He has taken part in seven matches with 3 starts and 4 sub appearances, where he has 5 goals and got 1 assist. The underlying figures show that in those seven matches he has scored 50% of goals though 24% of team’s shots on target, while getting 30% of assists with only 6% of team’s key passes. This indicates he is performing above expectation, however, with only playing 2 full matches, it could be assumed he would have had more chances if in the starting 11.
Everton have some good fixtures coming up, away to Southampton, followed by home games to West Ham and Huddersfield. Also, in a few weeks they are home to Swansea in a single match day. However, he is currently been charged with diving, so a ban may be on it’s way.
Niasse is currently the top striker scorer on a per points per match per £m at 0.79 It’s too early to say if this is a blip or he is under-valued. He is definitely worth keeping an eye on and may be worth a gamble if you need to take some risks.
My first team is in termoil. Recently brought in Butland due to Monday’s game and he got injured. Jones got injured, so brought in Gomez who didn’t play and decided to switch Otamendi to Stones. The bright spot was captaining Salah ahead of Kane for 38 points. The team rose several places over the weekend and dropped just outside the top 200 after Monday’s game. There is still a lot of surgery needed, but transfers are limited due to replacing injured players.
The second team continues to run hot and cold with luck. de Bruyne took the captains armband ahead of Kane and Salah, though had two injuries off Jones and Stones. Pogba was targeted to be brought back in my team once playing, so I transferred Stones to Femenia to free up money so Maguire can move to Pogba following his Friday night game.
I had planned to skip the Brighton Stoke match, though with needing to make a transfer for Jones (maybe to Niasse), I could use another transfer to fill in the Stoke game and get a Saturday game before using the other transfer (eg. 3 games for 1 transfer). I would have gone for a Brighton player but they were away to Man U this week. I selected Choupo-Moting, as a podcast I listened too (can’t remember which one, but may be Always Cheating) had mentioned him playing out of position. So a very lucky pick there with him scoring and being MotM as my captain. This rounded off the week with 120 points and moved the team up to 12th. I had used up several transfers a while ago to get this team to a 5-3-2 formation and that has just gone out the window. The number of transfers is in short supply and need to be saved, some 5-3-2 won’t be returning until the next over-haul.
Hope you manage to swerve the injuries and if not got a little luck as well with replacements. Let me know in the comments below.
