I have just realised that my spreadsheets don’t pick-up minus two points for an own goal, so slightly over estimates points scored.  This weekend was still a low scoring week with only 922 points in total.  Watford were the highest scorers this week with a low 81 points, while Newcastle had the lowest score of the week with 17 points for the team.

Man of the match

The table below are the Sky man of the matches:

Salah picks up his 5th MotM award and moves clear at the top of the table.  While Mee becomes the 5th player to pick up the award while being on the losing team.

The bonuses

The distribution of bonuses by team this week is:

Man City and Spurs were the top bonus scorers this week, while Liverpool and Chelsea failed to pick up many during their big clash. My beloved Crystal Palace had a good week picking up 5 awards, while struggling Everton, WBA, Swansea and Newcastle all failed to collect one award.

The season awards are as follows:

Following a disappointing bonus haul by defenders last week, they made up for it this week

Player watch

E.Hazard is a world class player who puts on some magical displays.  People say how wonderful he is and a must for your fantasy team.  He doesn’t appear high on my standard chart, and below the expect points per match given his price.

This season he has scored 57 points from 10 appearances (3 as sub), so his points per game per £m is 0.48.  Based on his current price and his performances last season this statistic would still only be 0.57 and well below the top class gold bench mark of 0.7

In the matches he has played so far he has scored and assisted around 17% of the team’s though his shots on target and key passes is around 22%.  Suggesting his returns are slightly below expectation.

However much of a great player we may think he is, I don’t think he is a must have long term hold in your team at his price.

My teams

Both my teams gave P45 to the Leicester players following the Friday night match.  The original plan was to have Pogba to come in for both teams.  However, as ‘Moaninho’ hinted Pogba’s minutes maybe limited, I decided to bring in Hazard to my first team as Chelsea have some good fixtures coming up and then switch in a few weeks. They also brought in the City keeper and Otamendi (& captained).  I’m strongly considering bringing in two Chelsea defenders in for Wednesday and achieving the 5-3-2.  Points wise they scored 85 and moved up to 145.

My second team scored 86 points, but close to a few more with my Burnley keeper and defender conceding an injury time goal to lose the clean sheet. They moved up to 8th on Saturday night and dropped down to 9th after Sunday games. My hands are more tied in terms of transfers with this team. My one major headache at the moment is Choupo-Moting, and I will be thinking of how to ease him out the team.
