Welcome to a new series from serial top 100 challenger @DreamteamRating discussing Sun Dreamteam strategy and tips exclusively for Fantasy Football Hub members. Gary has had plenty of Dreamteam success in cash mini leagues over the years culminating in a very impressive 10th placed finish in the recent 2019/20 season. As the season creeps up on us he shows his hand and lets us have a peak at how he will be starting the new campaign off with 5 of his teams.
First Week Plan
I thought long and hard about my early strategy this year with the new five transfer rule potentially meaning a rethink from previous seasons. In the end I decided not to go with any players from the Manchester clubs in my starting XIs as they won’t be playing until the second Gameweek.
I've decided to put a fair bit of emphasis on players who may get an extra game in the Carabao Cup, using our generous transfer allocation to transfer them out after Gameweek 1. My aim is that come Gameweek 2 most of my sides will include Kevin De Bruyne and Bruno Fernandes in midfield plus at least one Chelsea defender.
Risky Picks ?
My forward and midfield lines will start as what some people will call 'risky picks', but to me they are just one week gambles to try and get for a decent early boost before I get my more settled and established players in.
At the back I will mainly be keeping a settled defence and keeper as for me this is not where the big points will be scored this year. After a month or so and once my budget has hopefully increased I will be looking at blocking up my defence and goalkeeper as this can prove very profitable as the game rolls on.
Here We Go
Here are my starting teams along with what they with likely look like after Gameweek 1. They could obviously change if new players are added, injuries occur or simply a change of heart!
