Arsenal

New signing Thomas Partey is in line to make his Arsenal debut having arrived from Atletico Madrid during the window for a fee believed to be in the region of £45m. Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang suffered a "small sprained ankle" during the win over Sheffield United which prevented him from joining Gabon, but the skipper has been spotted at London Colney. The Gunners have not given up hope of Kieran Tierney, self-isolating, featuring this weekend after he was forced to withdraw from the Scotland squad. "Our medical team have confirmed that Kieran was socially distant at all times from the player – Stuart Armstrong - who tested positive and has broken no rules regarding COVID-19 protocols. We are currently seeking further advice and clarification of the details." His absence could force Mikel Arteta into a change of formation with Ainsley Maitland-Niles being utilised on the left as he was during Project Restart.

Predicted lineup

Press Conference Update

Mikel Arteta is not giving up hope that Kieran Tierney can play this weekend. The Scotland international was identified as a close-contact of Stuart Armstrong, and despite testing negative for COVID-19, he has been forced to self-isolate for 14 days. "This is getting very complicated when we are sending players abroad and obviously you lose control, some authorities have different regulations to the actual ones in the Premier League. We are still having some discussions with the authorities and hopefully, we will know more this afternoon," he said on Thursday. Arteta will make a late call on new signing Thomas Partey who will take part in his first session on Thursday: "We knew that before we signed him that he is fit, he is very willing to start playing and we will see how he goes in the next few days." No mention of Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang after the skipper missed the recent internationals having suffered a "small sprained ankle" versus Sheffield United. He has, however, been seen on the training pitches and should be okay for Saturday.

Pending Evaluation

  • Sokratis Papastathopoulos (Calf) - Full training, out of favour.
  • Emile Smith Rowe (Shoulder) - Integrating back into training with the first-team squad.
  • Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang (Ankle) - Missed the recent internationals with a minor ankle sprain.
  • Kieran Tierney (COVID-19) - Self-isolating as a precaution, but Mikel Arteta remains hopeful that the full-back can feature.

Ruled Out

  • Shkodran Mustafi (hamstring) – Targeting a return-to-training in late October.
  • Pablo Mari (ankle) – Hoping to rejoin the group during the international break.
  • Gabriel Martinelli (knee surgery) – RTP in early 2021.
  • Calum Chambers (ACL rupture) – Potential RTT before the end of the year.

Aston Villa

Not many No-one, expected Villa to put 7 (seven) the Champions in matchday four, but that's what Villa accomplished with Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins taking centre stage. Dean Smith handed Ross Barkley a start having only just arrived on a season-long loan from Chelsea as the midfielder eyes a place in Gareth Southgate's Euro 2021 squad. Barring injury, I don't see any changes at the King Power Stadium.

Predicted lineup

Press Conference Update

There was no mention of Kortney Hause and a potential return for the defender, although his availability is unlikely to impact on the starting XI with Dean Smith likely to stick with the same side. Some of the main talking points centred around Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins while Villa will be keen to avenge their 4-0 drubbing pre-lockdown from earlier this year. "I was really pleased that Jack got his first start for England and put in a Man of the Match performance. The beneficiary of him not playing in the other games is he’ll come back fresh."

Pending Evaluation

  • Kortney Hause (Unspecified) - Injured in the Carabao Cup. No update but should be available.

Ruled Out

  • Tom Heaton (ACL knee) - The goalkeeper is eyeing a return before the next international break.
  • Wesley (ACL knee) - Taking part in aspects of training, but it could be the end of the year before the striker is ready for action.
  • Bjorn Engels (Thigh) - Dean Smith is hopeful of a return before the end of October.

Brighton and Hove Albion

Tariq Lamptey was withdrawn from the England U21 squad after complaining of a problem with his hamstring at Goodison Park; the full-back lasted until half-time before Graham Potter replaced him as a precautionary measure due to "tightness". Aaron Connolly returned to the Ireland camp following a period of self-isolation, meaning the attacker is clear to play. Of those currently sidelined, Davy Propper is closest, but his ongoing Achilles issue means he may not be ready to start. Finally, a special mention for Jose Izquierdo, who is nearing an end to his injury nightmare. The Colombian winger has not played competitively since April 2019, but he did make his comeback for the development side before the break and Izquierdo has his sights set on a first-team return this year.

Predicted lineup

Press Conference Update

"We have no isolation concerns for the international lads," Graham Potter said ahead of the Crystal Palace game. "Aaron Connolly had a knock [on Wednesday], so we'll have to see how he recovers." Those travelling from further afield had not been assessed at the time of Thursdays' press conference but there are no "major concerns". Tariq Lamptey has trained and his response will be monitored but the wing-back looks to be in good shape. "Jose Izquierdo has been training and we may see if he can get some more action for the U23s this weekend." Davy Propper (Achilles) is training as well, but a decision on his involvement won't be made until nearer kick-off. Alireza Jahanbakhsh (hamstring) did not resume work with the group as hoped and he will miss the game at Selhurst Park.

Pending Evaluation

  • Tariq Lamptey (Hamstring) - Graham Potter confirmed his withdrawal was a precautionary measure and the England U21 returned to the training pitches on Thursday.
  • Davy Propper (Achilles) - Managing an ongoing Achilles issue although the Dutchman has trained all week.
  • Aaron Connolly (Knock) - Injured playing for the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday. Being assessed at the time of Thursdays' press conference.

Ruled Out

  • Jose Izquierdo (Knee surgery) – Building fitness with the Under-23s.
  • Christian Walton (Ankle) -  Hopeful that the injury will be weeks as opposed to months.
  • Florin Andone (Knee) - Ruled out for the remainder of the year.
  • Alireza Jahanbakhsh (Hamstring) - The winger has not returned to the training pitches and will not be available at Selhurst Park.

Burnley

The Burnley treatment room is beginning to empty, and Sean Dyche should have close to a full-strength squad to choose from. Jack Cork is the biggest worry, but elsewhere, the likes of Jay Rodriguez, Matt Lowton and Ben Mee will be available although they are at various stages in terms of their fitness. Robbie Brady and Johann Berg Gudmundsson have benefitted from minutes with Ireland and Iceland respectively while Ashley Barnes will be in better shape having started the last two.

Predicted lineup

Press Conference Update

Sean Dyche remains optimistic that Jay Rodriguez will be fit for the trip to The Hawthorns. "As long as the next few days go okay, Jay-Rod should be okay." Meanwhile, Ben Mee, Matt Lowton and Jack Cork are all set to miss out. Robbie Brady has benefitted from minutes with Ireland during the break, and the Clarets are hopeful that Johann Berg Gudmundsson will be passed fit after complaining of a muscle issue with Iceland. "He had a tight groin when he was away and came back but we’re hopeful that’s settling down so shouldn’t be a major concern." Back-up goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell faces a late test after suffering a hip injury with Norther Ireland. No mention of Kevin Long, although the centre-back is expected to be fine given that Burnley do not play until Monday night.

Pending Evaluation

  • Jay Rodriguez (Ankle) - Barring a setback, then he will be back in contention.
  • Kevin Long (Eye) - Missed the Nations League in Finland on Wednesday evening.
  • Bailey Peacock-Farrell (Hip) - Late withdrawal for Northern Ireland on Wednesday. To be assessed.
  • Johann Berg Gudmundsson (Groin) - Dyche remains "hopeful" that the winger can be involved at West Brom

Ruled Out

  • Jack Cork (Ankle) - Making "good progress" but may not be available until after the next international break.
  • Matt Lowton (Knee and ankle) - Working outside with the sports science department.
  • Ben Mee (Thigh) - Not close at the moment. "He’s going to need a period to get him back to full fitness."

Chelsea

The big question on managers' lips this weekend: Will Lampard be tempted to start Christian Pulisic and/or Hakim Ziyech against Southampton? I'll plumb for minutes from the bench. The Blues, of course, went into the break with an impressive result against Crystal Palace (4-0) although the performance may not have merited such a flattering scoreline. That said, there may be a reluctance to change too much although the Champions League fixture versus Sevilla may have some bearing on the XI. Edouard Mendy (thigh) is struggling which could see Kepa recalled while Ben Chilwell needs to be managed and I wouldn't expect back-to-back starts with fixtures in quick succession. Hopefully, Lampard prioritises the league with Marcos Alonso getting the nod in Europe. Azpilicueta will do well to keep Reece James out of the side, but the right-back does have a Nations League qualifier to get through first on Wednesday.

Predicted lineup

Press Conference Update

Edouard Mendy will not be fit for Saturday, but Frank Lampard wouldn't confirm whether Kepa or Willy Caballero is being lined-up to start. "I’ll make that decision out of the goalkeepers tomorrow, so we will see with that one." Thiago Silva will be rested due to his international commitments - travel and fatigue - but Ben Chilwell is fine after his withdrawal midweek. "He’s got over some of the feelings with the injury he has had for a while that took him out of England squad, so he’s available for tomorrow." Hakim Ziyech could make his competitive debut, although minutes will come from the bench. "He’s not fit to start but is fit enough to participate in some way, we hope." No mention of N'Golo Kante on Friday... the Frenchman was a late withdrawal from the France squad on Wednesday after complaining of muscular discomfort. Christian Pulisic is in the 18.

Pending Evaluation

  • N'Golo Kante (Muscle) - Missed the win in Croatia after feeling discomfort in training. To be assessed at Cobham.

Ruled Out

  • Billy Gilmour (Knee Surgery) – Potential RTP in early November.
  • Edouard Mendy (Thigh) - Expected to miss the game but won't be sidelined for long. Potential return midweek.
  • Thiago Silva (Fatigue) - Rested "due to the travelling he’s done."

Return to Competition

  • Timo Werner (Illness) - Recovered to score for Germany in the Nations League on Tuesday.
  • Hakim Ziyech (Knee) – Played over 30 minutes for Morocco during the break before returning to Cobham.
  • Ben Chilwell (Plantar Fasciitis) - Lampard confirms the full-backs availability.

Crystal Palace

It doesn't look like Nathan Ferguson will be available anytime soon following the announcement that Nathaniel Clyne has signed a short-term contract at Selhurst Park. Roy Hodgson said last month that any deal would hinge on the fitness of the full-back who is struggling to shake off a persistent knee problem. Jeffrey Schlupp is expected to be passed fit, and after the defeat to Chelsea, Hodgson may look to shuffle his pack. A hamstring issue ruled James McCarthy out of Irelands' final international and his absence could hand Luka Milivojevic his first start of the campaign.

Predicted lineup

Press Conference Update

Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey is being checked: "He came off the field injured [on Wednesday] and as a result, we’re assessing that injury and hoping it’s not going to be too bad." James McCarthy also came back with a muscle injury and is another player who won't be available for Sunday. Roy Hodgson confirms Gary Cahill, James Tomkins and Patrick van Aanholt were close to fitness before the break and the trio are nearing a return. Jeffrey Schlupp has rejoined the squad.

Pending Evaluation

  • Jeffrey Schlupp (Muscle) - Rejoined the squad in training.
  • James Tomkins (Thigh) – Back on the training pitches. Assessed week-to-week.
  • Gary Cahill (Hamstring) – Back on the training pitches. Assessed week-to-week.
  • Patrick van Aanholt (Shoulder) – Back on the training pitches. Assessed week-to-week.
  • Wilfried Zaha (Groin) - Picked up an injury playing for the Ivory Coast. Late fitness test.

Ruled Out

  • Nathan Ferguson (Knee) – Individualised programme. No timescale at the moment.
  • Connor Wickham (Muscle) - Suffered a significant setback. Out long-term.
  • James McCarthy (Hamstring) - Released from the Republic of Ireland squad. To be assessed.
  • Wayne Hennessey (Undisclosed) - Injured playing for Wales. Awaiting scan results.

Everton

Carlo Ancelotti is facing a selection dilemma heading into the Merseyside derby. Allan and Andre Gomes have been training at Finch Farm, and the Blues boss must decide whether to keep faith in Sigurdsson and Tom Davies or revert the side which served him well in the first three-game weeks. Richarlison overcame an ankle injury to play 90 minutes for Brazil on Tuesday while Seamus Coleman is expected to be available after training this week. Everton will assess Yerry Mina on his return from international duty after he missed the 2-2 draw in Chile; his absence would see new arrival Ben Godfrey handed his debut with Jarrad Branthwaite and Mason Holgate injured.

Predicted lineup

Press Conference Update

Those players involved in the recent internationals came back in "good condition" Carlo Ancelotti revealed on Friday, although fatigue may influence his selection. "Maybe they are a little bit tired which could be a consideration to choose the line-up and also to see what happens during the game." There had been concerns over Lucas Digne (knee) and Yerry Mina but both will be available for the derby. Seamus Coleman has recovered from the hamstring injury which kept him from representing the Republic of Ireland while Brazilian midfielder Allan is also fit having missed the win over Brighton. Andre Gomes is ready but defenders Mason Holgate (toe), Jarrad Branthwaite (ankle) and Jonjoe Kenny (ankle) remain out. Cenk Tosun is training individually and Jean-Philippe Gbamin (Achilles) could be back in late November.

Pending Evaluation

None

Ruled Out

  • Jean-Philippe Gbamin (Achilles) – Could make a return to First-Team action in late November.
  • Cenk Tosun (ACL rupture) – Training individually. Not expected to play again this year.
  • Mason Holgate (Toe) – Could spend up to three months on the sidelines.
  • Jarrad Branthwaite (Ankle) - Targeting a return before the end of the month.
  • Jonjoe Kenny (Ankle) - Ligament damage which could result in a month on the sidelines.
