<h2><strong>Best £4.5m FPL midfielders 2024/25</strong></h2>
<p>The £4.5m midfielder bracket is not the most exciting category - but shouldn't be ignored nonetheless.</p>
<p>Just like the <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/who-are-the-best-fpl-budget-goalkeepers">budget goalkeeper</a> position, the fifth midfielder option is often overlooked in Fantasy Premier League.</p>
<p>It’s a rare occurrence that they will ever be needed but it’s good to have a solid starter to be well prepared.</p>
<p>Underlying attacking statistics are not the main focus when selecting your budget midfielder.</p>
<p>Security of starts is undoubtedly the most crucial factor and that is what we will mainly focus on in this article.</p>
<p>Just like the £4.5m forwards in 2024/25, there doesn’t seem to be many nailed £4.5m midfielder options at the moment.</p>
<p>But with there being so many better forward options this season, I think the £4.5m fifth midfield slot will be much more popular.</p>
<p>Here we will go through the best of them and look at some with the potential to break through too.</p>
<h3><strong>Harry Winks (£4.5m) - Leicester </strong></h3>
<p>Ex-Spurs man Winks has been a mainstay in the Leicester midfield since his move from North London.</p>
<p>The 28-year-old started 45 games, playing a staggering 4,041 minutes and averaging 89.8 minutes per start.</p>
<p>He was the definition of nailed and I don't see that changing this season. There have been no links for him to move away and he looks set to stay at the King Power Stadium for another season.</p>
<p>He even chipped in with two goals, which for a defensive midfielder isn't too bad.</p>
<p>Winks is also on some some corners and direct free-kicks, so has that avenue for potential points too.</p>

<h3><strong>Boubakary Soumare (£4.5m) - Leicester </strong></h3>
<p>Winks's teammate Soumare also looks pretty assured for minutes as things stand.</p>
<p>The Frenchman was on loan at Sevilla last season, starting 26 games for them in total, earning praise and playing himself into the starting 11.</p>
<p>He started his last 16 games for the Spanish side, completing 90 minutes too.</p>
<p>There have however been reports Leicester plan to sell the 25-year old in the summer transfer window, so he is one to monitor for now.</p>
<p>If he stays, then Soumare is sure to be a certain starter given his quality.</p>
<h3><strong>Massimo Luongo (£4.5m) - Ipswich</strong></h3>
<p>Another option from one of the promoted sides is Luongo.</p>
<p>He has a bit more attacking threat than the aforementioned two. The Australian scored three goals and created one assist in the Championship, starting 37 games and being subbed on for six.</p>
<p>He is not as nailed as Winks but is still not a bad option for the £4.5m midfielder slot.</p>
<p>A caveat to be aware of though is Ipswich will likely spend in the transfer market to bolster their squad.</p>
<p>He could well be one of the players they sell or replace but at present he is a solid bench option.</p>

<h3><strong>Ibrahim Sangare (£4.5m) - Nottingham Forest </strong></h3>
<p>Of the £4.5m midfielders in the game right now, Sangare played by far the most Premier League minutes last season (1,031) and also started the most games (13).</p>
<p>He is a defensive midfielder but can also play in central midfield and has managed 17 goals and 15 assists in his career. He therefore has much more attacking threat than any other £4.5m midfielder.</p>
<p>Forest signed the highly touted Ivory Coast international from PSV Eindhoven last summer for £30m and he was one of their statement signings.</p>
<p>Steve Cooper signed 22 players back then and with so many new arrivals, it was difficult for the new players to bed in.</p>
<p>He also suffered from malaria and injuries in his debut season in the Premier League, which hampered his progress, but Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo's comments regarding him are encouraging and indicate he will stay at the City Ground for the 2024/25 season;</p>

<p>“He is not in his best moment yet. He was seriously ill, he lost weight and has had injury problems.</p>
<p>"But he is an option for us. I know him and I expect him to help the team. He can be very, very helpful to us.”</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Sangare is the one to watch in pre-season as he is too good not to start in this team. If he stays fit and gets a run of games, he might end up being the best of the bunch.</p>

<h3><strong>Other £4.5m midfielders</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Yehor Yarmoliuk</strong>,<strong> Jakub Moder </strong>and<strong> Naouirou Ahamada</strong> were second, third and fourth for minutes of the £4.5m midfielders last season but none look certain to get a decent amount of playing time.</p>
<p>There have been reports of Moder moving to Leicester though, so keep an eye on that one. If he does make the move then he will likely play as a number 10, which boosts his appeal significantly.</p>
<p><strong>Matheus França</strong> is another one to keep an eye on. The Crystal Palace midfielder signed for Crystal Palace during last summer's transfer window for an estimated £17m from Brazilian side Flamengo.</p>
<p>The 20-year-old midfielder's start to his Palace career was hampered due to a back problem, so if he's fit and firing in pre-season he may well be the most exciting prospect. He is an attacking midfielder and has scored 14 goals and four assists in 76 career games.</p>
<p><strong>Stefan Bajcetic</strong> should get a lot more minutes this season but is nowhere near nailed to start - and also takes up a precious Liverpool spot.</p>
<p><strong>Lucas Bergvall</strong> is an 18-year-old Swedish prodigy who signed a five-year deal with Spurs back in February.</p>
<p>He registered six goals and five assists in his 17 matches for Swedish side Djurgarden. He is probably one for the future - and picked up a knock in a recent friendly - but may get minutes off the bench.</p>
<p>We currently have 58 midfielders in the £4.5m price range and with so much time to go until Gameweek 1, we should have a much better idea of who the best options are and I am sure one or two more options will emerge.</p>
