Best FPL players for Gameweek 31

Son Heung-min (£10.1m) – Spurs

Fixture: West Ham (A)

Son Heung-min now has 15 goals and eight assists in the league. He has three goals and two assists in the last four games, where has played up top.

Spurs have a great fixture for attacking purposes as they take on London rivals West Ham.

The Hammers have conceded 54 goals (sixteenth) with an xGC of 55.2 (eighteenth) so are one of the worst defensive sides in the league.

Tottenham have scored 61 goals (fifth) with an xG of 52.91 (seventh) and we know there is a good chance of goals at both ends of the pitch when they face off.

They are the fourth favourites to score 2.5+ goals (33%) also.

Son is nailed to start and is the first choice penalty taker.

He has played as the number 9 in Richarlison’s absence for the past four games ,and it’s not a certainty that the Brazilian comes straight back into the starting XI given the South Korean's form.

Mohamed Salah (£13.1m) – Liverpool

Fixture: Sheffield United (H)

Mohamed Salah got back to scoring ways last gameweek, after his first start since Gameweek 20. He has 16 goals and nine assists, with an xG of 16 and an xA of 6.1.

Liverpool have their best fixture of the season against bottom of the table Sheffield United in Gameweek 31. The Blades have conceded the most goals (77) and have the second worst xGC (58.4) in the league.

Liverpool on the other hand have scored 67 goals (second) with an xG of 67.1 (first). They are also the favourites to score 2.5+ goals (71%) so this could be a huge scoreline.

Salah is the clear best captaincy option this week, and on paper this could be one of his biggest hauls of the season. He should start, as even with the quick succession of games he is one of the first names on the team sheet.

Salah is at 60% to score at any time which is no surprise given his record and the fact he is on penalties.

Bukayo Saka (£9.2m) – Arsenal

Fixture: Luton (H)

Bukayo Saka has a very impressive 13 goals and 10 assists this season, and sits as the highest scoring midfielder in the game.

His performances and underlying numbers have been great. He has registered an xG of 11.5 and an xA of 9.1.

Arsenal have a fantastic home fixture as they welcome Luton to the Emirates. The Hatters have conceded 62 goals (eighteenth) with the worst xGC in the league (64.1).

The Gunners have scored 70 goals (first) with an xG of 58 (third) so on paper this should be a long night for Rob Edwards team.

Arsenal are also at 67% (second) to score 2.5+ goals in Gameweek 31, so it all points to a big win.

Saka is nailed to start, on penalties and has both goal and assist threat. He is the club's top scorer, and it’s likely to be that way at the end of the season too.

Erling Haaland (£14.4m) – Manchester City

Fixture: Aston Villa (H)

Erling Haaland has registered back to back blanks, but he does have a good fixture in Gameweek 31 to make amends.

Over the season, he has 18 goals and seven assists in only 23 starts in the league.

Manchester City welcome Aston Villa to the Etihad. Villa are in the top eight for both goals conceded and xGC, but City going forward are one of the best in the league.

The bookmakers have them as strong favourites, and the third most likely to score 2.5+ goals (55%).

City have also scored the third most goals (63) with an xG of 59.38 (second). They will create plenty of chances, and it’s likely Haaland will be at the end of them.

The Norwegian is the best forward option this week, and in the top three for best captaincy picks. With him being at home, it’s more likely that he scores than not.

He is the favourite to score at any time (63%) in Gameweek 31 and should be nailed to start. At this time of the season when we have games in short succession, Haaland is exactly the type of player we can rely on for minutes.

He is also on penalties and the clear talisman for Pep Guardiola.

Alexander Isak (£7.6m) – Newcastle United

Fixture: Everton (H)

Alexander Isak is having another great season. He has 14 goals in 18 league starts with an xG of 12.8. His stats are great, and he is playing for a team that scores a fair amount of goals.

Newcastle come up against Everton at home this week. The Toffees have been good defensively but the Toon are at home, and they have scored the third most goals (63) with an xG of 56.96 (fourth).

Eddie Howe’s team will be favourites for this one and Isak is their talisman just now. He is their only fit forward and has now played 90 minutes in the last few games.

With Callum Wilson out injured, he will continue to play as the number 9.

The Swede is also the first choice penalty taker in Wilson’s absence, which was confirmed last gameweek when he took both penalties with Anthony Gordon on the pitch.

His teammates will create plenty of chances for him, and he should be assured for a start also.

Isak is at 46% to score at any time, and and he is the third highest predicted points scorer (5.6 points) according to our Hub AI tool.
