<p>Morocco came into qualifying for the 2022 World Cup as the fifth-best African nation, which gave them a bye into the second round of the African process.</p>
<p>That starting point started perfectly, with Morocco winning all six of their second-round group games against Guinea-Bissau, Guinea and Sudan.</p>
<p>They conceded just one goal in those games, scoring 20 and smoothly progressed to the third round.</p>
<p>Among the highlights, in scoring terms, was a 5-0 win over Guinea-Bissau, with PSG full-back <strong>Achraf Hakimi </strong>among the scorers.</p>
<p>Forward <strong>Ryan Mmaee </strong>scored two consecutive braces in the last two games to help Morocco to a 100% record in their group.</p>
<h3>Third round</h3>
<p>Morocco faced DR Congo in a two-legged tie for World Cup qualification. Their opponents were the lowest-ranked team left in the third round.</p>
<p>They fell behind in the 12th minute of the away leg but <b>Tarik Tissoudali</b> levelled things up with a 76th minute equaliser.</p>
<p>The home leg was altogether more comfortable for Morocco. Tissoudali scored another goal, while <b>Azzedine Ounahi</b> contributed a brace and full-back <strong>Achraf Hakimi </strong>rounded the job off.</p>
<p>DR Congo scored a consolation goal, however by then the game had gone and Morocco were well on the way to Qatar.</p>
<h2><b>Morocco's form since qualifying for the World Cup 2022</b></h2>
<p>Morocco completed qualification in March.</p>
<p>They played three games in June. One was an international friendly against USA, which they lost 3-0.</p>
<p>The other two games were Morocco's two Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against South Africa and Liberia.</p>
<p>South Africa were defeated 2-1, with <strong>Ayoub El-Kaabi </strong>and <strong>Youssef En-Nesyri </strong>on target.</p>
<p>An away clean sheet was kept away to Liberia, with goals from En-Nesyri and <strong>Faycal Fajr </strong>the difference.</p>
<p>September brought friendlies against Chile - a 2-0 win and a 0-0 stalemate against Paraguay.</p>
<p>A <strong>Sofiane Boufal </strong>penalty and an <strong>Abdelhamid Sabiri </strong>strike saw Morocco pick up the win against Chile. <p>Morocco's World Cup qualification games gave little insight into the likely starters in Qatar.</p>
<p>That is because manager Vahid Halilhodzic was dismissed in August, despite a near-perfect qualification campaign.</p>
<p>There is little to go on then, in terms of starting lineups.</p>
